2 years ago there was a teacher at out school that grew soybeans and wheat plants from seeds that were harvested from the international space station. I think the organization in charge was Orbital Labortory(speLL?) The kids designed their own mission patch, measured growth, entered data into the computer to compare with other students accross the U.S., and participated in live chats with astronauts. I wish I had the information because I would love to do something like this. I dont know if this was even close to what you was talking about but I remember how much the whole school enjoyed keeping up with the plant growth.
