Clip to ScrapBook
5th graders aren't too young for other trinkets. I taught it the last few years and I had a basket full of goodies that they could pick from. They especially loved superballs. What I did was give each child a ticket if they turned in their homework that day and if they didn't have behavior problems that day. At the end of the day I drew 2 tickets and they picked from the treat basket. At the end of the week we threw away the extra tickets and started fresh on Monday. They loved it and I didn't spend a fortune on prizes with only 2 a day. Their favorite treats were: fancy pens or pencils, pencil grips, superballs, fans, backscratchers, and small stuffed animals (the ones from Oriental Trading Company).
