The school I work at doesn't use extrinsic rewards. This was new for me when I arrived 4 years ago. But, I have been successful with very rowdy/social classes. Basically, I explain my expectations early on. For example,| it is just expected that students will enter the room quietly. I shouldn't have to give them tally points for doing so. Of course they need gentle reminders . I do give them individual compliment cards throughout the year for doing various things. We also have compliment circle on Fridays where they give a compliment to someone in the class.I also surprise them with baked cookies just | |
because and free time in the room just because.
If you do want rewards to give out how about bookmarks, coupons for no homework, lunch with you, gel pen, pencil...
