Be sure to keep in touch with her, ask her how things are going, does she have any questions, etc. Be sure to let her in on all the little things around the school, things that you may take for granted: copying machine routines,
celebrating birthdays, lunch routines, etc., how specials are arranged (do you sign upfor times or are they assigned to you?) [One school I worked at had color coded days for specials, so when we had 3 day weekends Friday & MOnday specials weren't missed by the same classes. Nobody bothered to explain this to me & I showed up for specials to find out it wasn't my day!] Help her
plan her daily schedule, offering tips that she might not be aware of (It takes a long time to get back from the library on the other side of the building, so you may want to plan on starting your math lessons 5 mins later). Do recesses have to be co-ordinated between teachers, do you have to share/take recess or lunch duty, etc. Help keep her up to date on in services & workshops in the district, offer to go with her to some of them. Since she'll be new to the school, she won't be on any mailing lists for workshops, magazines, etc. Share this information with her.
Think through your typical day. What information would a person walking in off the street have to know?
Basically, be her friend and keep your door open to her. Take time to "check up" on her, especially in those hectic first weeks.
