There is an unspoken rule around where I teach "never go out in the town you teach". I work in an area that has lots of little towns. If you want to go have dinner and have a glass of wine, do it in the next town. I work in another state, but across the border. My husband and I never stop on a Friday where we work, but wait until we get to our own state.

I remember my sister's principal (I am 14 yrs older than her) was told to resign because he ate dinner with his wife and fellow teachers on Friday at the ONLY place in 20 miles to eat. They served alcohol. It was a small farm community and EVERYONE went there, but he wasn't suppose to because he was a principal. This was in the late 80's.
