brand new sub
By Dave

Clip to ScrapBook
Welcome to the funny farm Emily. I had subbed many years ago and am now planning to return as I have retired from my last job. Here are some tips.
Under no circumstance whatsoever let the students faze you. The number
one rule for school students when they see a sub is to try to shake them up. Just remember that you were on that side of the desk not too long ago and you'll be prepared for it.
There will be some students who will help you by telling what they were studying, etc. You can depend on them and it's easy to pick out who wants to help.
Do not hestitate to ask for help from other
teachers. In some schools a sub needs all the help they can get.
Remember to leave the regular teacher a note describing what went on, what was covered, any problems, and so forth. They will be glad you did and that they won't have too many surprises.
Good luck!!
