a deck of cards
By Kelly

Clip to ScrapBook
My advise is to get a deck of cards. I have a deck for every kid in my class. You can use this for any math operation (+ - x /)
Divide the deck in 1/2 you each get half. Flip over 1 card each at the same time. The
first person to say it's sum/product whatever gets both cards. You will need to reinforce the concept that you always subtract the smaller number. The goal is to take all of the others cards. You can also do this with 2 digits. Both lay down a card. Give oral clues like so far you have 50 showing not 5 and I have 30 showing not 3 so who has the bigger number? then you each lay down
the second digit and first to id answer gets all cards.

They can practice the game solo as well. They just try to id the answer as quickly as they can.

My kids love it when the cards come out. They have come up with some ways to alter the game as well.
