Don't give up! By Rachel

I completely know how you feel! When I started at my school -- our salary was extremely low -- barely 5 digits! After a year we switched to abeka curriculum and it was a huge shock --- no more creativity and so, so, so| much work for the students. Slowly my school over the past 5 years has moved out of this but I completely know where you are coming from. I don't know what grade you teach but I do enjoy teaching abeka Science and History. There was alot of room for me to teach my way in these subjects. Also in Reading I would not follow the lesson plans that were provided because there was too much | | emphasis on oral reading. Check with your administration or other teachers to see how much freedom you have. Ultimately the curriculum is there to support you not vice versa . . . but if everything and everyone is conspiring against you -- remember you only need to be there for 180 days and then you can go to a new school! I will be praying for you!
