Kudos to you Kayla. As a special ed teacher, I am so glad you are realizing this already! Yes, you are right about the chances of getting a student with special needs in your classroom and it will help you, the student, the parent, and the special ed teacher a TON if you are at least somewhat prepared and have a good attitude about the opportunity! The more knowledge you have, the more it will help. Obviously, the special ed teacher or a consultant will do their share of making accomodations and helping you, but it will help everyone if you have some background.

Good luck with the rest of your education and great job for making the effort!
