behaviour cards
By Kelly

Clip to ScrapBook
I had a little girl last year that was driving me up the wall with the crazy behaviour. She would trip anyone walking by... find wierd and wonderful ways to "sit" in her chair...shout out anwswers etc...
I tried everything!
In
the end here's what worked: I met with her and told her what Iwas seeing that I didn't like. Gave her the opportunity to talk. Then we discussed what I would like to see. I put each one on two index card's. She kept them in her desk. If she was acting out in a way the cards covered I simply said bring me a card. She would find the card that was appropriate and bring it
to me. Each day in her aganda I would write and circle the number of cards she had remaining at the endof the day. Her mother gave her the goal of beating 100. When she got thtere I believe she was taken to McDonalds. But the prize was up to the parents.
I had no trouble with her getting around what was written on the cards because it was general. Forexample: I would not write -- will not trip people- instead I wrote - Will use her hands and feet for helping not hurting. It was absolutely amazing and totally frustrating in a way to see how few cards were taken from her when this was started. Over a one month period she lost 3 cards. This after making me LOONY! :-)
