pencil sharpening

I make this task part of our morning routine ( the 10-15 minutes when studnets are comiong in, turning in homework,wiritng down homework, reading the morning message etc.. this morning time is when they must sharpen two pencils. That's it- not later, unless tons of writng is being done or a pencil breaks. If they sharpen them other than in the morning, I ask them to use the hand cranked sharpeners rather than the elctric, as these type are quieter.
