Could you put the students so they are "sitting" on die cut horses with their names on those? Take their pictures sitting on a low wall with their bodyfacing one side, but with their face towards the camera. Then when you
cut out their picture, just put one of their legs behind the horse cutout. That would go with the "Wanted" idea above. Also, take a look at my idea for Mrs. L above, using frogs. It could work for you.
You could also use golf balls.......here is an idea that I posted on another board:
Put natural colored burlap on the background, then green butcher paper cut out into a large fairway

shape (or use green paint instead, if you you're daring). Glue golf balls to tees. Then at the top, put a little black hole with a pennant on a dowel or straw sticking out of it. If you used foam board, you could just stick the tees and pennant in!

Make sure to stick the tees around the outside of the fairway. Write the students' names on each ball. and put little photos of your students on each ball or next to them -- ooh, you could get
little patterns of golfers and put photos of your students' heads in the head of the golfers and have the students color the outfits.

OR - take students' picture sitting on a low wall and then cut out each picture and sit them on top of their golf balls, so it will look like they're sitting on them. Put the title "Teeing Off for a
Great Year" somewhere and voila! Hope this makes sense. Someone else gave the titles "Our class is up to par" and "Our class fits us to a 'Tee'"
