I know how you're feeling.....ugghhh....first day jitters, just like the title of the book
So far, I've taken the advice of many experienced teachers...drill in those beautiful rules. I spent all morning going over them, asking for examples, practicing lining up, placing back packs where they belong, getting materials, and of course a tour of the campus itself. That was fun b/c just about entering the cafeteria, a pk student came out running and screaming at the top of his lungs (it was their lunch hour) for his mommy....how cute. My fourth graders just giggled and kept on walking
After lunch, I've been having them work on activities such as a get to know you, drawing of their favorite hobby, journal entries, a bit of math, and cutting/gluing a picture together. It's been going well, but I have to say, I am constantly reinforcing my rules.....they try all their best to see how far they can go Goodluck and let us know how your first day turned out.
