prove it!
By Lynn H.

Clip to ScrapBook
I played a game with my second graders last year called Prove It! We would picture walk through the story we were going to read, stopping to look at pictures and vocabulary words. Then, without reading the text, kids would guess what was going on in the story, what would happen next, etc. I wrote all their predictions down on chart paper. We read the story in pairs, then gathered together to go over our predictions. The ones that were correct, I put a check next to, the ones incorrect a line through, and the ones that were half correct we changed what was wrong to make it right. The kids loved it. This is a Guided Reading strategy from 4 Blocks.
