ideas to keep the kids busy
By Jennifer

WHat about an "all about me" worksheet. The kids can work on that when you are going over the rules and schedule with the parents. Check out this site.

www.teachertools.org

click under lesson plans and there are many
ideas for "back to school" sheets. This site allows you to download the worksheet and print it off. Search around the site, it is great for ideas.

I would put construction paper on each students desk and have them draw a picture. Or maybe have them do a little writing assigment on how they feel about coming to third grade. Crossword puzzels always seem to keep them busy as well.

I think it is neat that you have a designated time to talk to your parents. At my open house we had to be there for nearly 2 hours waiting on all the parents to show up.

Another idea is to put your classroom rules in a powerpoint presentation and show this to the parents and the kids can watch too.
