"Behaviour store" By G.

I did something similar a while back. However, the way I did it was to have a group discussion where as a group, we listed 5 to 10 behaviours that needed modification. We prioritized the list from the most to the least| severe behaviours that needed to be squashed. We then gave a monetary value to the behaviours, obviously the greater the offense the more it costs. Each Monday, every student would be given a set amount of money (for which they had to be responsible and not lose). Throughout the week, all students were on high alert for themselves and others breaking the set rules. At the end of each | | day, students would declare that they saw John or Jane violate one of the rules. Beside the student's name, I would then mark the amount of money lost as a result of breaking our set rules. Then on Friday, we would total each student's behaviour and how much they owe the teacher and the proper change was made which left students with their spending money for the "store". There were those who had no money, and those who had it all. On the table, the more desirable stuff was the most expensive but couldn't cost more than your weekly allowance. Students could buy as long as their money would hold up. I would put dollar store items on the table and may splurge a bit more on the higher priced items (which surprisingly last a while and must still be appealing to even your hardest cases) from bubble gum, stickers, skipping ropes, crayons, pencils, you name it, I had it on the table. It worked an absolute miracle for me and turned a hard class into a pleasure, which everyone noticed! You could use the same principle but rather than a weekly store, whenever all students reached a target amount, they would have a movie afternoon, pizza, etc depending on how much you're able to supply Hope this helps...
