I test the new word wall words on Fridays. However, my students aren't allowed to look at the word wall during the test. I either try to cover it up or I tell the students to keep their eyes down and that I shouldn't see their eyes. We also put up folders. I have a small class so this works well. I don't put too much emphasis on the test because the purpose of the word wall is for the students to use it in everyday writing. However, this is how I get their spelling grade.
