Husbands who are teachers By Husbands who are teachers

I just found this site and I NEED to vent! Sorry I am not offering you much advice, but I just want to say this to the person who recommends that you find someone who is a teacher too. My husband is a middle school science| teacher and this is going to be his fourth year teaching. I am a first year teacher and he has no idea what I am going through right now (his mom who is a teacher helped him set up his room, and I have no one since he starts school this week)! This summer he didn’t work (he gets paid year round) and I had two jobs; he complained that he never saw me. When I went to see my classroom for | | the first time I was so overwhelmed! It was used as a storage room for fifty years ago and recently a teacher taught in it for two years. She didn’t clean out a single closet and just added to the mess! The students didn’t have room to hang their jackets and belongings. I have only been able to be in the classroom for two days and I feel like I have made no progress sorting through all of the junk that has been left in there (the teacher from last year didn’t even empty out her trash or recycling AND she is still teaching in the same school and hasn’t offered to help any). My husband still thinks I have been there too much already and I have been spending too much time planning (it’s a private school and I have to develop my own curriculum for my first and second grade multiage classroom since the teacher who taught my class the last couple of years didn’t make a curriculum, hence why she was moved to another grade) I took him by the school to show him the mess and he didn’t say too much. School starts next week and I have three meetings this week for orientation. He is so laid back and causal and keeps his room looking the same every year. This frustrates me to no end! I just hope that once school starts and he begins coaching that he will give me a break!
