Buzz Game
By Robin

Clip to ScrapBook
Susie: I play a game with my students that requires no preparation. We usually play while we are waiting in line to go somewhere (Lunch, especially!) The game is called Buzz. I announce the number we are buzzing. For
example, if we are buzzing 5, the students substitute "buzz" for any number that is a multiple of five, or has a five in it (ie., 52, 156). The students may not talk and they have to listen carefully. I begin at the front of the line and the students count 1, 2, 3, 4, buzz, 6, 7, 8, 9, buzz, 11, 12, ...49, buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz, etc. It has become an ongoing contest for each class to
see how high they can get with a number. Usually, I will change the buzz number when they can reach 100. It's great to work on multiples. If a student names the wrong number of does not buzz the correct number, we must begin at one again. I hope this helps!
