your aide
By emme

Clip to ScrapBook
You have the right attitude, in my opinion Leslie, because you speak politely, keep things positive, and suggest co-operation. It's quite possible you'll win over this veteran aide and you'll become a strong team. Several
times I've been warned by other staff about a demanding parent or a bossy assistant, and had the opposite experience myself.

I'm speaking to just one phrase in your post though; when your aide told you that you would not like some things of the she does, that sent up a red flag. She simply can not do things in your classroom that you do not want her to do. You are in charge, and though

she may not agree with everything you do, it is her job to support you. She doesn't get to decide.

Good luck with this situation, keep writing the instances down, but keep planning for it all to work. Incidentally, it would not necessarily be a bad thing if your aide happened to find out that you are keeping anecdotal records.
