This is my first year teaching and I have an aide. I was very excited until some of the other teachers told me how awful she was. She has been trying to push my buttons since the first day we met. She tries to come up with
something negative on me. So I have just continued to be nice to her and avoid any talk about my personal life. She has been there for 20 years and all the other teachers say she rules the school. So I have just polietly asked her what I wanted and then half the time she does it and the other half she just ignores that I ever said anything to her. I have been writing these instances down

so that if I continue to have a problem I can report it to the principal but I want a way to talk to her about these problems without offending her so if I need to go to the principal I can at least say I tried to talk to her about it. Since we got moved from first grade to kindergarten, things are getting better. I have tried to stick to the ground and not let her run over me. She likes to decorate and I like to have students work up so that is a problem. She says some things she does I am not going to like and some things I do she will not like. I said that is where we have to cooperate. She didn't like that response. So I am keeping my hopes up and trying to keep things postitive. If anyone has any suggestions on my situation, it would be appreciated. I also like to share my experiences because it always makes people feel better when they are not alone.
