Beetles Lightly Toasted, will gross them out and spring board into science fair project writing.

Sign of the Beaver, survival of a 13 year old boy who watches over the family cabin while family is away, befriends an Indian boy. Great!!! Story!

Island of the Blue Dolphin, as mentioned above, and a good short read, The Whipping Boy that has old English terms, a good teacher read aloud book
