Without going into detail, I had a year with a lot of very serious family concerns. When I was at school in front of the children it was the only time I was able to forget my problems for a time. It forced me to wholly concentrate on something else, and someone else, where I could really make a difference. In my spare time I found all I was doing was worrying, so work was a nice break from that. Keep your admin in the loop, I'm betting they will bend over backwards to give you what you need.
