You're not alone

I'm only 21 and this is my second year subbing at an Elementary School grades K-2. I find that its all about how your react with the kids and it really depends on the class itself. I could go into one 2nd grade class and be laid back for the most part and they stayed in control and we could play some fun games but in another 2nd grade class I had to be really strict and stern and make the focus work the whole time because they couldn't handle anything else.

Dress professionally and let them know you are the teacher and you mean business and you will write names down for the teacher. Also, I try to bring my own bag of candy so if they are good, I will give them some at the end of the day. Oh and children love stickers too! Good Luck!
