book reports

Clip to ScrapBook
I always hated book reports as a student so I vowed not to do the typical thing. I teach third and I have them do what I call Book Shares---5 a year. Stole the idea from a fellow teacher and I love it. The students get
a list of 15 projects they can do for a book they've read. I have them create the project in school---they bring materials from home. I can send you a copy of the list if you email me. They can choose from diorma depicting a scene, doing a monologue for the main character, come dressed as character with other props and explain why the are important, create a board game, etc.
Once
project is created they must present to the class. Also, they can not do the same project twice, one book must be non-fiction and the project counts as test grade. I've had real positive reaction from students and parents.
