Checkbooks By Jen

I used this at the end of last year, you know when no classroom management strategies seem to work. Anyway, it was tied into my already developed behavior plan. Each day the students had a chance to earn 26 classroom points.| Throughout the year the amount of priviledge that you had in class was dependent on how many points you had. So at the end of the year, your points then translated into how many checkbook dollars you had. I kept track on a bulletin board so that we didn't have to enter totals every day, just once a week. At the end of the week students could buy various items from me. Stickers, | | pencils, erasers, homework free pass, drink pass, game pass, etc. Then once every 2-3 weeks, I had an auction with stuff I had bought from the dollar store. The kids LOVED the whole idea of using checkbooks and acting "adult". I didn't use it all year because I found it too time consuming, but it did work. I also took money away for no homework, calls home, etc. Jen
