Amen...this is what I've been trying to explain for 4 years of teaching 1st grade and have always been shot down. I never knew there was a name for it! I believe in "being good for goodness sake". It drives me crazy when I see educators coming up with cutsy behavior programs! I have parents who tell me they can't wait until their child has me, because I am "strict, stern and disciplined." I am a teacer to teach, not to babysit. My principle wants cutsy, so I will do the 'hole punch" reward that I so on another area. I don't remember "cutsy" when I was in school! I always tell incoming parents that I am not "soft, warm and fuzzy."
