You have a good system started! I agree with the poster who suggests you put all your kids on the highest level and move them down if need be. It is just possible that a child who is having a bad day will "lose" the warning
circle you place on his desk. Silently moving his fish one level down is all you'd need. And this method makes the system simpler all round, therefore easier to manage in the day to day rush.

Regarding your mascot sitting on the desk as a reward - the kids will LOVE it. Last year is the first year I started keeping track on a class list of who got this kind of reward (I had two,

they were beanie baby sized). I didn't do it to be sure everyone got the same number of rewards, but to see who I was missing. The children who were always well behaved did get the mascot more often, but I did make sure that every month I found a behavior to honestly reward in even my most challenging student....tho it wasn't always easy
