I really like your anchor idea and the mascot as well! I may borrow those if you don't mind. My thoughts on your class management system are that it's so good to focus on positive behavior and down play negative,
but be aware that for the kids who don't get a positive reward for behaving at the end of the day it will feel negative. There are always certain kids who have trouble functioning in a classroom, and although it is our goal to assist them and set things up to accomodate individual children, it has been my experience that the less emphasis you place on good/bad behavior, the easier
it is to develop class unity. My suggestion is to not do away with your ideas, but simplify. Instead of students moving their piece for good behavior, why not let them start out on the best area and stay put as the day goes on, but the children who need the reminder, move, and have the opportunity to move back? The note home is very effective, especially when they do it themselves, so definately use this. But instead of using circles, you can see their name on the board and keep track easily. Also you won't have bunches of children going to the board throughout the day.

I am always of the mind to go with your instincts and try something out to see how it works. So I hope that whatever you do, it'll work for you...good luck!:-) Kellie
