On the first day, I take each child's picture. After they are developed, I write their name on the back. When the students come in each morning, they must flip thier pic around so I "can see their smiling faces" if they aren't here, thei name will still be showing. I can quickly glance to see who is/isn't here. I also put the child's lunch card under his/her picture. If the child isn't eating lunch, they put a red card over their lunch so that I can easily turn in the lunch count. Also, if we have a bake sale, popcorn sale, etc. They will put their quarters in front of thier pic so that I don't have to call each child up for that.
