I don't require reading at home. When my daughters were young, it became work and something we had to do rather than fun. I encourage reading at home. We read books and complete short book reviews about the books. We count the number of books read by individuals as well as the class. There are various incentives for reading spdcified numbers of books. Books read at home or at school count. Last year we read over 5000 books! (Books over 75 pages count as 2 books.) One student read over 700 books.
