Word Walls
By Kelly

Clip to ScrapBook
You have to make the word wall something that the kids use everyday. I make my students write the words everyday, I refer to it everyday, and they write sentences using the words. Word walls are only effective if they help students. If you just slap words up there they won't care. I do put Spelling and Vocab words up, but only after we have used them, just so that they are there for a reference. I also give them 5 new words a week. Those are the words that they write everyday. Also make word walls for different subject areas like math, science, or social studies. I've seen teachers do that (I don't have the wall space). I hope this helps.
