Marble jars (long) By Sandra

I used a marble jar per group (my students were grouped by 4 or 5 students) and I rewarded them for following directions the first time given, for bringing back those important forms (two marbles if you bring in that very| important emergency contact form...) walking correctly in the halls, transitioning well, getting compliments from other teachers, good behavior during fire drills. You name it, I gave marbles for it. Especially at the beginning because the noise is a really good motivator. Because of how I did this though with the teams, we counted marbles every day and kept a list of which group won for | | each day. At the end of each week the team that had won the most times went to the trasure box. They loved it. I do think that a whole class marble jar would be nice. It depends on how often you give them marbles and how large the jar is but I would say try to keep it so that every 3-4 weeks they earn a reward. Otherwise it might seem like they never get to their goals. Good luck and I hope I helped! ~Sandra
