Marble jars (long)
By Sandra

Clip to ScrapBook
I used a marble jar per group (my students were grouped by 4 or 5 students) and I rewarded them for following directions the first time given, for bringing back those important forms (two marbles if you bring in that very
important emergency contact form...) walking correctly in the halls, transitioning well, getting compliments from other teachers, good behavior during fire drills. You name it, I gave marbles for it. Especially at the beginning because the noise is a really good motivator. Because of how I did this though with the teams, we counted marbles every day and kept a list of which group won for
each day. At the end of each week the team that had won the most times went to the trasure box. They loved it. I do think that a whole class marble jar would be nice. It depends on how often you give them marbles and how large the jar is but I would say try to keep it so that every 3-4 weeks they earn a reward. Otherwise it might seem like they never get to their goals. Good luck and I hope I helped!
