Decorations

Clip to ScrapBook
I'm a first year teacher. One of the many things that is making me feel a bit nervous is my classroom decoration. First of all, I haven't been able to go into my classroom b/c of maintenance reasons, and b/c the teacher
who had this room last year hasn't been able to move out b/c her room isn't ready either. Therefore, I'm looking at having maybe...a total of 5 days to actually fix my class. So, I've been having nightmares, panick attacks, and even fear of failure.... all b/c I read how other teachers go beyond decorating these beautiful themed classrooms. Now, after reading your post, I've realized
how it's true that every teacher has her style. I love having open space and can't stand seeing clutter everywhere. This is the same at home and everywhere. I guess not having bean bags, lamps, a loveseat, rocking chair, or even a microwave doesn't mean I will fail the students. I look forward to decorating, but I shouldn't let this overwhelm me to the point of nonfunctioning! All I want is to have a successful learning classroom.
