silent reading By CH

It makes a huge difference when you read while they are reading! Grab your favorite novel or the newspaper and read! I have found it to be very relaxing, and the kids have a greater respect for reading when they see the teacher do it.
In terms of holding them accountable, I seat my students in groups. The group who stayed on task and read the whole time receives a prize.
