Good Ideas

I like Maggie's ideas. Especially where the child says what they want.
For the whole class I give points for compliments and when they have enough I allow to have a "Brown Sack" where they get to bring a snack from
home (in a sack) to eat while they are working. Also I have allowed them at times to bring walkmans and listen to music on their headphones (if you do, this do a spot check that the music they are bringing is appropriate). On individual behavior during the first week or two of school I try to phone every parent to point out something positive as well as anything negative. This really

helps. During the year I try to find at least 3 children each week who have behaved well and send a positive note by mail to their home. Parents love this.
