limiting children
By Jetta

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Cathie,

Well first of all, congratulations on your new position and how wonderful that you are soliciting the advise of others in order to figure out what's best for your 3's!

No, I do not limit the number of children
in a center. If there are alot of kids who are really into something one day, I make the center bigger, or let it take over two centers. I usually don't have a problem with that though, because I make sure there are plenty of interesting, exciting, appropriate choices throughout my classroom. As for must have centers,
housekeeping (a place like home) is extremely important,
blocks,
art/publishing
(age appropriate exploratory art and writing materials)
logic center (math and problem solving experiences)
science/nature center,
library,
quiet/reflective center.
