I agree By Angela

Last year was my first year teaching kindergarten as well--I had all day too! I agree with Victoria about getting your books organized. I made the mistake of NOT doing that because I thought that other things were more| important. They ended up unorganized all year, and it is on my list of things to do this year. You will spend the first couple of days reading to them a lot, so have an area set up for that--probably your calendar area. Have things set up so that you can have a morning circle time, like calendar, ABC charts, numbers, colors, weather etc. Oh, and with your books, I would have liked to | | have my organized by season, but I know you said your time is limited. I would also seperate books that you don't want to get ruined etc. I made sure my room was so cute, and had nice things that I spent a lot of money on. HA, like I said I had never taught before, and had little experience with kindergarten; most things were ruined in the first week. Don't worry about bulliten boards, but do worry about supplies. I had a tub for every table with glue, pencils, scissors, and crayons. I will not do that this year because my kids would take things out of other bins so that they had the most, and everyone would complain that the Brown Bear table had more crayons, or the Rainbow Fish had all of the scissors. So, I am not sure what I am going to do this year, but it won't be that!Sorry to ramble. If you need advice on anything else just ask. I had a very rough year and class with everything that you don't want to happen, but I feel I can handle a lot now. angela
