I post a sign on the sharpener that the PENCIL SHARPENER IS CLOSED!
I allow students to sharpen pencils first thing in the morning and the last thing of the day.
I do allow hand held sharpeners...but I hate the mess. I have a job called the Scrap Patrol...they usually let me know who is making a mess with the sharpeners.
