tables By Lynn H.

You will love your tables! I use large Sterilite (?) cleaning supply buckets ($3 at WalMart) for each table. They are blue oval-shaped buckets that have a deep well on each side and a handle on top. On one side I put 2 sturdy| plastic cups (88 cents at WalMart) -- 4 pencils and a set of thin markers in one, 4 large erasers and 4 glue sticks in the other -- one box of Crayola markers, and a sandwich-sized Glad Throw-Away plastic box with 2 sets of 24 crayons inside. In the other side I have 4 clipboards, a whisper-phone and individual water bottles. I leave the bucket in the middle of their table and they | | move it if they need to. I have rotating table captains each week whose job it is to hand out supplies as he/she sees fit and keep the bucket clean. I also number the table bucket and some of the containers so they don't get mixed up.For the other stuff (folders, notebooks, etc) I use the counter above my cubbies for individual "book tubs." These are plastic magazine holders from Really Good Stuff ($9-12 for 4 I think) which I label with a large Sharpie (comes off easily with pink nail polish remover.) They each hold the child's individual basal reader, a writing folder, a handwriting notebook, a maximum of 2 books from the reading center, and any work they have not finished. I put the science and social studies books into extra cubbies (they are communal.) I love it because there is no place for clutter or to hide unfinished work. Let me know if I haven't explained things clearly enough. Good luck!
