In my 4th grade class, we tally AR points every 2 weeks. All that I ask my students is to increase their number within that time. Some may increase quite a bit and others choose to read a half point book to increase. This way, I know that ALL students are reading and increasing their AR points. If they do not increase any in the 2 weeks, they give up their recess until a test is taken. Works for me.
