new job stressed
By Sarah

Clip to ScrapBook
I was asked to leave one of my jobs, and it was a mutual decision, also. I didn't like the principal's way of running the school, and he didn't especially like me. So we parted company.

Of course, they will contact
your district's office. It is unusual for a district to badmouth a former employee - too much liability and likelihood of lawsuits. Probably all they will do is tell them that you worked there. Your references really ought to consist of tachers you work with. If you have a previous administrator who maybe liked you more, use him/her instead as a reference. A friend of mine did that
because she was nervous about what her current principal would say when she decided to leave her job.

Don't worry overly much about bad comments from your district. After a period of time, they tend to forget about you. Also, even if they DON'T like you, they are not really interested in badmouthing you and making you lose a job elsewhere. Even they know that there are just those places that were just a bad fit.
