Clip to ScrapBook
I took a fifth grade opening last year because it was all that was available. I tried really hard and I think I did a decent job, but I just didn't like it, and I think someone who really enjoys that age group would have
been better for my kids.

When I asked to move down, my principal's response was, "But your lessons are so advanced and you're so intelligent, you're just better suited to upper grades." Of course, if I'm so intelligent, I should be able to adapt lessons to any grade level, right? I think it's just harder for principals to fill upper grade positions, so they'll try to keep you there

if they can.

I was hesitant to push hard for a move, but I decided that I had to make a change now or risk being permanently labeled as an upper grade teacher. Fortunately, my principal gave in, but I was so unhappy in fifth that I was ready to walk if she didn't let me move.
