help out!
By Jen

Clip to ScrapBook
My advice is to get up and walk around the room to make sure the students are staying on task and paying attention. If she is just like any other normal teacher, she will appreciate the extra set of eyes. If you do see
some kids acting out, I would not hesitate to say something to them, as long as it is a situation you feel comfortable dealing with. Has this teacher had a student teacher in her classroom before? If so, she knows that you are probably anxious to take the bull by the horns and get in there. Observing can get so boring. I had a wonderful cooperating teacher last semester that slowly worked
me into the schedule. Each week we added a new subject to my load of lessons until I was teaching everything. That system worked wonderfully. If I saw students goofing off during one of her lessons, a simple pat on the shoulder did the trick most of the time. She did the same when I was teaching. Good luck. I hope your student teaching experience is as good as mine was!
