My main suggestion would be to get in touch with the teacher to find out what she wants you to do & what skill abilities the child are at. Get a feel for what her approach to working with the kids is, & try to follow suit.| I might suggest that you brush up on what is "developmentally appropriate" for the age group you'll be working with, so that you know what kind of expectations to have of the children in order to better plan and assist with activities. What are their large & fine motor skill levels? You'll need to know if the children are at a developmental age to be using scissors, crayons, glue, etc. |
| appropriately or independently or with assistance. Can they be expected to sit & stay focused on a table top activity, game or story book? What play level are they expected to be at: independent, parallel or co-operative? What about their large motor skills for playground activities or games?
