science and social studies By patsi

I use (Core Knowledge.org)to teach my science and social studies. I do week-long units of either science or social studies. I do this for my whole afternoon teaching. I do a lesson with a story/book then do an activitity or science experiment. It makes if fun for the children. Some of the units I teach: Sept:school,Fall,
community,Johnny Appleseed,lifecycles (frog), October:nocturnal animals, Halloween/Pumpkins,Columbus,Fire Safety
November:Native Americans,Pilgrims,Thanksgiving
December:Holidays around the World
January:MLK,Winter,Magnets,
February:Shadows,Valentine'sDay,Presidents,Patriotic symbols/landmarks,
March:Wind/Wright Bros,Spring,Plants,Ireland
April:animals&their young,sealife,Environment,Safety/Health
