sharpening
By Robin

Clip to ScrapBook
I encourage students to sharpen pencils first thing in the morning using our electric sharpener. I do not want hand-held sharpeners and/or mechanical pencils or the kinds with the pop-out points, because many kids play with these. I do have an extra pencil container with already sharpened pencils handy that kids can use if their pencil breaks during a lesson. I also allow kids to sharpen pencils as they need to when they are working, provided they do not abuse the privilege.
