rainforest and s.s.
By lori

Clip to ScrapBook
Another tie in between the rainforest and social studies would be the PEOPLE/ LANGUAGE / TRANSPORTATION / CULTURE! Have the kids do some rain sticks, masks, songs, dances, language , and reading on the various rainforests. Apply the FIVE THEMES OF GEOGRAPHY to some ideas , and also use as a search engine on the internet. Don't forget the FOODS of the rainforest. Why not divide the class up into tribes and let each one be responsible for something. I can't think of the actual "name," but there is something cute for the kids as a desert. You take chocolate cookies and crumble them up to make them look like dirt, and them add candy worms and insects....put it into little cups. This is like they are eating part of what's in the rainforest.
