One year I did an ocean theme. I hung fish nets from my ceiling with shells and fish hanging from them. Over my book center I used blue tissue paper to cover one light to create "mood" the title over the book center was, "There's Hidden Treasure...in every book" I had a treasure box on the front door, and made pearls with irridecent paper with each child's name on them, cascading from the box. I think I hung sand box toys over one area and made a sort of beach OH!!!... the science corner had sand in my sensory table with sand toys and I hung some sand toys over it inside a fish net. If you're really | | gung ho......you can use brown paper bags to create the bottom of a boat to hang from you ceiling to make it look as if you're under water. I used streamers to section off some of my centers (blue shimmery ribbon and blue streamers) sort of looked like water falls. You can use pirates, fish. We had a skit day recently and one of my teams did a comedy routine, "what is a shark's favorite game??" "SWALLOW THE LEADER!!"...I thought that was cute for a creative thinking or creative writing area. Your art area could be..."oceans of art" There are 1,000,005 things to do. I stocked my science and math centers with plastic fish and sea shells, sand, photos, water experiment tools and books....they had a blast!! Good luck to you, I hope you find more ideas... Did you have any particular themes in mind?
