I think the last poster was a little on the pessimist side. Certainly if you have chosen the profession of teaching, you have worked with kids and enjoy doing it. You are probably overwhelmed by the idea of starting with your own room and being changed from one grade to the next.

Don't sweat it! 2nd grade is the best grade to teach. The kids can work more independently, and the still think you are the best thing since playstation!

Try to get in touch with your principal and ask for numbers of your teammates. Give them a call, tell them your concerns. I know it is stinky to work over the summer, but get a hold of some TE's. Look the curriculum over and ask your team to do some planning with you. I am sure you will have a supportive team that will be more than willing to show you the ropes.

And to make things fun for you- Come up with a classroom theme. It will get you excited about your room, and the kids love it.

Just remember everyone has been the new person at one time or another. You'll get past it. And it will be rough at times- but man, is it ever fun!!!!!
